LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Fall is around the corner. Hope all of you are having a wonderful summer!

2009 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Ontario Alumni Association, and with this in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my predecessors for passing on to me such a great Association and people to work with.

2009 has hardly been a pleasant year. The financial crisis that started in late 2008 has been affecting us one way or another. For our alumni association, we lost our respectable member, Mrs. Ruth Ho (class of 1933) in May. The list goes on.

I envision that, the Association can be a facilitator that provides networking opportunities to our alumni for mutual support during this difficult time.

Remember the three words that we used to put "on top of our hearts"? Faith, Hope, and Love. It is during these challenging times that we could really appreciate what our mother school conveyed to us.

Please visit our website and enjoy the pictures from our 2008 AGM dinner and the Christmas carol singing at the St Paul's L'Amoreaux. I am sure that you will be able to feel the power of the Words on us protruding from the cheerful faces. If you missed the events in 2008, I encourage you to join us in 2009.

The Committee will organize a few activities in the coming months to help our members relax. The Wine tasting gathering in August is a new trial for us. With the support of the owner chef of Akasaka, we are able to offer our members an introduction to wine tasting basics, together with a Japanese lunch, at a reasonable price. In addition, Andrew, our golf expert, is again preparing to challenge your golf skills in our annual tournament taking place in September.

Our 2009 AGM will be held in the midst of November, when we will also celebrate our 25th birthday. Please stay tuned for more details in September.

Last but not least, the Christmas Carol singing in December. Please join us for this meaningful event.

"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Looking forward to meeting all of you again.
